It’s 10 days on from the release of ‘The Will Of The People’ on Amazon. I’ve received two wonderful reviews and am buoyed up by the response so far. It does feel weird to have something that I’ve worked on, in private, to be out there in the world. But, as you know, if you’ve read the book, I have very strong opinions about how the UK 2016 Referendum affected the people of this country.
So, while the book (hopefully) finds an audience, I’ve been busy recording the audiobook version. I don’t think I realised what I was letting myself in for! It has consumed my life. As a composer with a home studio, I have all the necessary equipment to create a really professional recording. Every breath, every unwanted click of the tongue can be smoothed, edited… tweaked. There are 51,438 words, and I think I’ve spoken them all at least twice and listened back endless times. However, I’m nearing the end, and I’ve enjoyed performing the words and trying to bring out the intended emotions. I’m including a photo of my audiobook ‘cave’ (kindly supplied by Rachael Jackson). This is where my veneer of professionalism comes unstuck. This is a concoction of mattresses, duvets and clothes rails. It may be a bit ‘Heath Robinson’, but it works, and keeps out any extraneous sound. I’m hoping to complete the editing by the end of next week. Thanks for reading. Paul
